The United Nations Organization.

  1. The Moscow conference referred to the need to create an international organization based on equality of all peaceful and open to all States '. The founding countries were: the United States, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, France and China. The Statutes of this Organization (the UN) were approved by 51 countries at the San Francisco Conference on June 26, 1945, and established the following objectives:.
    • To achieve international peace and security by peaceful means.
    • To defend the fundamental rights and freedoms of man without distinction of sex, race, language or religion. 
    • Maintain the obligations arising from the Treaties and other sources of international law and justice.
    • Promote social progress and improve living standards through the creation of appropriate bodies.
    1. The main UN bodies are:
      1. The General Assembly, consisting of five representatives from each Member State, is like a world Parliament that meets once a year.
      2. The Security Council, consisting of 15 members, of which five are permanent and with the right to veto (the five founding countries), and the remainder renewable every two years. He is entitled to take action against any aggressor country.
      3. The Secretary-General, proposed by the Assembly for five years and with an eminently diplomatic function.
      4. The International Court of Justice, based in The Hague, consisting of fifteen judges (there cannot be two of the same nationality), specialists in international law, appointed for a period of nine years. .
    2. 5. The Economic and Social Council, composed of 54 members, which is responsible for organising international aid. It is the principal body for coordination, policy review, policy dialogue and recommendations on economic, social and environmental issues, as well as implementation of internationally agreed development goals.
