1.2 The Celts
The Celts
The Celts arrived in the Iberian Peninsula from Central towards 1100 BC and settled in the North, the center and the West of the Iberian Peninsula
They lived in walled settlements or castros. They were organized in tribes formed by various clans.
They were dedicated mainly to cattle raising, but they also practiced hunting. They were experts in metallurgy: they manufactured mainly jewellery and weapons of bronze and iron.
The Celtic peoples did not know the scripture or the coin. They worshipped the stars and some elements of nature. The Celtic priests were called Druids and had great social prestige, because they acted as doctors and diviners.
