The Earth’s only satellite is called the Moon
It is around 384,000 kilometres away from the Earth. It revolves around the Earth and takes 281⁄4 days to do it. The Moon has four different phases that can be appreciated from the Earth:
- New moon. The moon faces to the Earth its invisible side (not lit by the sun)
- Waxing crescent (first quarter)
- Full moon. Its visible side is completely lit by the sun and can be seen from the Earth.
- Waning crescent (third quarter )
